Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Recap Sports ("Recap," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the native Recap Sports app for iPhone and iPad (the "App") or contact us for support.
The short version
Recap does not require a Recap account. We do not sell personal information, serve ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites. Your follows, Queue, and preferences stay on your device unless you choose to sync them through your private iCloud account. Limited technical data is processed to deliver Live Activities and content you request.
Information the App handles
- On-device app data. Your followed teams and competitions, saved games, spoiler preferences, highlight-channel choices, and other settings are stored on your device. Recap does not use this information for advertising or profiling.
- Optional iCloud sync. If you enable iCloud sync, your app data is stored in your private Apple CloudKit database so it can stay in sync across your Apple devices. Apple processes this data under its own privacy terms. Recap does not operate a separate account system for this feature.
- Sports and highlight requests. The App retrieves schedules, scores, standings, team images, and related sports information from ESPN. It also searches for and plays highlights from trusted YouTube channels. Those providers receive standard network information, such as your IP address and request details, when the App connects to their services.
- Live Activity delivery data. If you choose to follow a game on your Lock Screen, Recap sends an ActivityKit/APNs push token, a Live Activity identifier, the followed game identifier, and the minimum game-display settings needed to our Live Activity gateway. The gateway uses Cloudflare infrastructure to retrieve game updates and sends them to your device through Apple Push Notification service. Cloudflare may also process standard network metadata, such as your IP address, when the App connects. The gateway does not receive your name, email address, contacts, or precise location.
- Support correspondence. If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include in your message. Please do not send sensitive personal information when it is not needed to resolve your request.
Open web and YouTube content
Some highlights play in an embedded YouTube player. When a highlight cannot play in the App, or when you choose to search for one, Recap may open YouTube or another web page in an in-app browser or the corresponding external app. Once third-party content opens, that provider's privacy policy and controls apply. Recap does not receive your YouTube account information or viewing history from YouTube.
How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- show the teams, competitions, games, and settings you selected;
- sync your selections across your Apple devices when you enable iCloud sync;
- find and play requested sports highlights;
- start, update, and end Live Activities; and
- answer support requests and protect the reliability and security of the App.
Service providers and sharing
We share limited information with Apple, Cloudflare, ESPN, and Google/YouTube only as needed for the functions described in this policy. We do not sell or rent personal information, share it with data brokers, use it for third-party advertising, or track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
Retention and deletion
- On-device data remains until you change it, clear it, or delete the App.
- iCloud-synced data is managed through your Apple account and iCloud settings.
- Active Live Activity registrations expire after approximately 24 hours without a heartbeat. Registrations created to start a scheduled Live Activity can remain for up to 30 days, and are removed sooner when delivered, canceled, or no longer needed for the game.
- Support emails are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain ordinary business records.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we process. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but we limit what our systems receive and retain by design.
Your choices and rights
You can change your follows, Queue, spoiler settings, Live Activity settings, and iCloud sync choices in the App. You can also disable notifications or Live Activities in iOS Settings and manage Recap's iCloud data through your Apple account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we control. Contact us to make a request. We may need enough information to understand and verify it, and some information may be held solely by Apple or another third-party provider.
Children's privacy
Recap is a general-audience sports app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Recap changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how the App handles information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
